Mall restoration ~ The Mall Walks

The Mall was originally developed as a place where Armagh's citizens could walk surrounded by greenery. It is still enjoyed in this way today by young and old alike.

The resurfacing of the walks around the mall are therefore one of the most important aspects of the whole restoration project.

What type of surface will replace the old patched tarmac isn't clear at the minute but from the samples shown here it appears tarmac will again be used.

The temptation to add to, instead of simply restoring and consolidating the walks has unfortunately befallen the architects. To see the inappropriate additions to the walks see the next page.
