This fine old house built about 1783, had in recent years fallen into a neglected state but nevertheless was potentially one of the most interesting 18th century buildings in Armagh city centre.

The premises was, up until a year ago, Green's barbers shop but in the early years of the nineteenth century it was the home of local character Robert "Bow" Cochran. So named because of his bow window that distinguished the residence from the rest of English Street. At that time it was topped with a conical shaped roof and the elegant bowed facade ran down to ground level.

In 1992 the authors of a gazetteer of buildings in Armagh wrote that that "the building cries out for a sensitive restoration scheme".

Instead on Sunday 20th May 2001 it was demolished. It was just another victim of greedy developers who are rapidly turning Armagh into a city without any architectural attributes worth mentioning.
