is a seminal work on the County that will be used time and again by historians
writing about Armagh. Published as the latest in a series of County histories,
it is a collection of 30 interdisciplinary essays ranging in subject matter
from archaeology and St. Patrick to aspects of farming and the
famine. A must for the serious Armachian, and at almost 1100 pages,
the reference book on Co. Armagh

Patrick's City - the Story of Armagh"
is a popular history of the city of Armagh and worth
buying for the illustrations alone. Written by journalist Alf McCreary it
sets out to tell the story of Armagh while reflecting on Patrick's contribution.
Ambitiously it attempts to cover a vast range of time and topics; you can
read of the legendary celtic queen Macha as well as the foundation
of Armagh Planetarium within its covers!

Armagh Ancestors
is aimed at the family history researcher. It succeeds in providing the
reader with a well thought out and comprehensive walk through every source
you could imagine relating to Co. Armagh. with appendices such as a complete
townland list and even better an unofficial placename list,
it really is a mine of information.
- Several of Anne Doughty's novels are set in the countryside
about Armagh in the 1940's and 50's. The stories are about the people who
live and work in this north Armagh farmland and it is obvious she is in

Francis McCorry's
profusely illustrated "Journeys in County Armagh and adjoining districts"
is a series of guided tours, 46 in all, to some of the most historic and
least visited parts of County Armagh. Concentrating on churches and graveyards
it is a must for lovers of Irish architecture and genealogists alike.
